Codesys SoftMotion TxC BIOS settings

According to the CoDeSysControlRTEV3 manual, it is crucial to switch off Throttling, Speedstep and C-states in order to get a stable processor clock, thus generating minimum jitter.

The following instructions are intended for a TxC C12, might vary a bit depending on model:

1. Enter BIOS by holding DEL on the keyboard while booting
2. Change setting CPU Configuration/Hyper-threading to DISABLED
3. Change setting CPU PPM Configuration/EIST to DISABLED
4. Change setting USB Configuration/Legacy USB support to DISABLED
5. Exit and save the BIOS settings

Extra information for the curious:

CPU throttling
Power save function, allows the system to lower the CPU operating frequency when idle to conserve power and reduce heat buildup.

EIST
Power save function (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep), allows the system to dynamically adjust both processor voltage and frequency depending on current work load.

Legacy USB support
Compatibility function, makes an USB device (typically mouse/keyboard) look like a PS/2 device in order to allow them to work with operating systems that do not support USB devices (f ex true MS-DOS).

TxC and date time format

In TxC terminals, the applications date \ time format is controled by the settings in the terminals Regional settings.
However this setting need to be copied to the "system account" to be correctly used by the ix application.
This info is available in the helpfile\manual. See belowe for screenshots on "how to"

TxC - Running iX Developer on a TxC

Running iX Developer on a TxC is not supported, if you uninstall iX Runtime and install iX Developer, you'll run into problems with the iX application registering new drvers as soon as you pres Run or Simulate in iX Developer.

Do not use iX Developer on an TxC panel.

The manual will be revised to reflect this.

iX - TxA/TxB/TxC/X2 Modbus to Pluto safety PLC

​Previously, E1000 users used the Modbus master driver to communicate with a Jokab Safety Pluto safetyPLCs.

That option is no longer availible, due software related resons.

The Modbus master driver (V5.xx.xx) does not have any support for forcing the RTS signal high (cmd line option XRTS).

Workaround 1:

It´s possible to use the Modbus/TCP-driver in iX if a Westermo EDW-100 is connected to the Pluto. The standard Pluto RS232-cable is directly connected to the EDW-100 serial port, see picture.

The configuration of the EDW-100 is in the attached in the file edw100.ini (just change the IP to something that matches your network).

An example project for iX (made in version 2.10) is attached in the file Pluto_iX.zip (made for a T7A), the variables used in the example are based on the example Pluto PLC-project Pluto_PLCcode.sps.
Also tested and working with X2 pro panel and iX 2.20 SP2.

Workaround 2:
17-04-04: Note! We have seen issues with this setup depening on the Pluto and panel modell.
Problem initiating the communication on startup/reboot.
We highly recommend workaround 1.​

It´s possible to get this to work if a Westermo MDW-45 is connected between TxA/TxB/TxC and the Pluto.

RS485-cable between TxA/TxB/TxC and MDW-45 is Beijer standard cable CAB112 (- on CAB112 to terminal 3 on MDW-45, + on CAB112 to terminal 4 on MDW-45).

Crosswired RS232-cable between MDW-45 and standard Pluto RS232-cable, for example standard Beijer CAB30 with two male-male converters.

Switches that should be set to ON on the MDW-45:

2, 3, 4, 6 on S1

3, 4 on S2

iX - Transparent Mode Qnn serial through an iX panel with Serial/IP

The following settings worked when I tested Serial/IP->iX Panel T7A -> Mitsubishi Q03 CPU (serial).

iX driver setup:

Serial/IP was set up as follows:

Irratic mouse movements on iX/RT TxC when using NMEA 0183 devices

A customer has reported that they have strange mouse cursor movements on a TxC when having
a navigational device connected to a serial port. Turns out that Windows 7 Professional autodetects
the device as a serially connected mouse.

The workaround is simply to disable autodetection of serial mice with a registry hack ,go into the registry
and edit the following value:

Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\sermouse
Key: Start
Value: 3

Change Value to 4, which is Disabled and it will stop this problem occurring.

iX - How to shutdown PC\TxC from within a iX application

Information valid for Windows XP and Windows 7 32\64b, tested in iX 2.10.

Windows has a application shutdown.exe located in path c:\windows\system32\shutdown.exe which can be started from within iX using the Run-action.

 Explanation to parameters :

/s :shutdown 

/t xx : delay time before shutting down

USB dongle for iX runtime not found

First step - check the Device manager in Windows wether the dongle has been found or not.

Second step - use the web browser to see if the sentinel service have found the dongle. http://localhost:1947/
